Hey -- I'm open minded

You might assume that I'm closed-minded about "alternative" treatments. For instance, I've always suspected that acupuncture was a bunch of nonsense. I mean, how the heck does it work?

But, here's a scientific double blind study on acupuncture and arthritis in the knee.

This study indicates that it works! (in the knee, at least, for a while)

Great! I'll now be less skeptical about acupuncture. I think it should be further studied and, when proven, be adopted by medical doctors.

I still seriously doubt that acupuncture is the "heal all" often claimed and I REALLY doubt those charts linking a spot on the big toe to your spleen (or whatever).

My main point is that there is proven medicine and unproven treatments. The unproven treatments should be studied and proven before it is called medicine.
